Presidential Awards for Fulbright Scholars
The Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development is pleased to announce the Presidential Award for
Fulbright
Scholars. The award is a paid professional development opportunity. The amount of the award will vary according to the rank and circumstances of the scholar. Awards may be for one or two semesters, consistent with the terms of the Fulbright Scholarship. The Presidential Awards for Fulbright Scholars provide professional development leaves for faculty who are ineligible under the standard criteria for sabbaticals or difference in pay leaves as a way of encouraging faculty to apply for Fulbright grants. Faculty who are awarded Fulbright grants and are eligible for regular San Francisco State University sabbatical leaves or difference in pay leaves are not eligible for this award.
Guidelines
- Awards are limited only to faculty who receive Fulbright Scholars grants.
- Awards are intended to encourage faculty to apply for the Fulbright Scholars grant in years which they are not eligible for regular sabbatical/difference in pay leaves.
- The award will be negated if for any reason the Fulbright Scholars grant is declined or canceled.
- Faculty who receive a Fulbright Scholars grant concurrent with the award of regular sabbatical/difference in pay leaves are not eligible for the Presidential Award for Fulbright Scholars.
Procedure
- Deans will notify eligible faculty of the availability of awards and the procedures for application.
- A letter of application, a vitae, a complete copy of the Fulbright Scholars application, and a copy of the notification of award of the Fulbright Scholars grant must be submitted to the Dean of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development.
- The President will review all submitted materials and make his decision for the awards.
