Academic Program Review is one of the most important functions in the Office of Academic Affairs. The purpose of academic program review at San Francisco State University is to assess the University's academic degree programs in order to assure that they are of the highest possible quality. Each academic degree program that does not undergo discipline-specific accreditation by outside agencies is reviewed in turn during the course of a cycle that lasts approximately six years to complete. The University will complete its fifth cycle, and begin its sixth cycle, of program review during the 2006-2007 academic year.
